2. Rechargeable Li-ion batteries

Parklio™ Parking Barrier employs rechargeable Li-on batteries that are environmentally friendly. Lithium-ion batteries are an advanced battery technology that incorporates lithium ions into its electrochemistry.  Or, to put it in simple terms, a lithium-ion battery is a kind of battery in which lithium ions move between the negative (anode) and positive (cathode) electrodes while charging and discharging. 

From a clean energy perspective, li-ion batteries, have many advantages:

  • Greater energy density
    When compared to other high-quality rechargeable battery technologies, Li-ion batteries can hold more energy. In fact, the energy density of lithium-ion is typically twice that of the standard nickel-cadmium.
  • Low maintenance 
    The battery has no memory and doesn't need to be cycled on a set schedule to last longer.
  • Less toxic
    Compared to nickel-cadmium or lead acid batteries, Li-ion batteries are less toxic.
  • Can be recycled
    If not reused, the precious metals in Li-ion batteries, such as cobalt, lithium, copper, and iron, can be recycled.
  • Longer lifespan
    A lithium-ion battery can last up to 1 year on a single charge.
  • Rechargeable
    Li-ion batteries can be charged again and again and can last up to 500 charge cycles (the time it takes to go from completely charged to empty and back to fully charged).

3. Solar panel 

Solar panels are the leading source of renewable energy that have several benefits for the environment due to their green energy and emission-free operation. Furthermore, they're easy to install, cost-effective, and don't require a lot of maintenance.

The Parklio™ Barrier is solar powered and doesn’t require any external charging as it also has rechargeable  Li-ion batteries which can last up to 1 year on one charge. When there is enough sunlight, the solar panel gradually charges the barrier's battery, extending its autonomy.

The Ticketless Access Parking System is a parking system that doesn’t use paper tickets. This reduces paper waste and carbon ink printing, making the whole ecosystem cleaner and greener.
